Planning submitted for major industrial scheme
A PLANNING application for a 90,000 sq ft employment-generating industrial scheme in Doncaster has been submitted.
Keyland Developments, the property trading arm of Kelda Group and sister-company to Yorkshire Water, has submitted a planning application to Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council for the site on Little Lane.
The proposals intend to regenerate a 6.3 acre site within an existing industrial area off Little Lane in Kirk Sandall, 2.5 miles north west of the town centre. The site sits to the rear of an existing Yorkshire Water treatment works, bounded by industrial development to the north and east and with good access to local and national road networks.
Keyland Developments has submitted an outline application for 90,000 sq ft of B1c, B2 and B8 industrial uses which encompasses light and general industrial use, storage and distribution. Indicative plans show that the site could accommodate a number of sustainably developed, sensitively designed units ranging from 4,000 sq ft to circa 25,000 sq ft in a landscaped setting.
The proposals could create up to 250 new jobs for the Doncaster area and help to address the well-documented regional shortage of quality industrial accommodation.
Peter Garrett, managing director of Keyland Developments, said: “The Little Lane site is located within an employment policy area in the Doncaster Unitary Development Plan but at present is underutilised and is not contributing to the regeneration of the locality. Our proposals seek to change this through the creation of a high quality industrial scheme in-keeping with the site’s immediate surroundings which will facilitate employment opportunities and attract inward investment. We are looking forward to receiving feedback on our plans.”
