Siemens begins Hull recruitment with “vanguard” roles

SIEMENS has today begun recruiting for jobs based in hull, just under two years before its wind turbine manufacturing and assembly operations in the city are due to become operational.

Fourteen positions have been advertised for what Siemens described as the “vanguard” of a phased recruitment operation which will eventually see the company employ 1,000 people in Hull.

Siemens Hull project director Finbarr Dowling said: “These positions show that we’re really getting geared up. They are the vanguard for our recruitment in Hull. More will follow early in the New Year and we will continue to recruit through 2015 and 2016.

“Initially, we are likely to be recruiting in relatively small groups of under or around 10, but we will be accelerating to larger numbers later in the process.
“We want to build a critical mass of experience and expertise in Hull, to create a centre of excellence for wind power.”

Construction of buildings for the blade manufacturing and wind turbine assembly facilities is due to begin in summer 2015, with production of the first blades scheduled for November 2016.
