Tills ringing at Meadowhall as year-to-date sales rise

MEADOWHALL Shopping Centre, based in Sheffield, has reported a 4% increase in year-to-date sales – the strongest since the economic down turn of 2008.

The centre has retained a strong retail line up at the Centre, and has recently added other brands including Jo Malone Ecco and Simply Be.

Darren Pearce, Centre Director at Meadowhall, comments: “This last quarter has seen very strong sales figures here at the Centre, which is great news for the economy and points to what we hope will be a very successful Christmas.

“We are very proud that Meadowhall’s broad retail and leisure line-up rivals any other across the region – and we’re fully expecting our shoppers to continue to take advantage of that in the build up to Christmas – and beyond.”
Last month Meadowhall reported the busiest Black Friday on record, with retailers offering shoppers up to 70% discounts. Many retailers have extended their Black Friday promotions and offers into the Christmas period.

Mr Pearce added: “As well as strong sales we are expecting to welcome in excess of 2.5m visitors between now and the New Year as shoppers grab their last minute Christmas shopping, and then hit the sales that traditionally start on Boxing Day.”
Meadowhall recently received the Gold Award for its innovation in sustainability at the highly-regarded 2014 British Council for Shopping Centres (BCSC) awards in London.
