Deal agreed for latest phase of Waverley development

HOUSEBUILDER Harron Homes has agreed a deal for part of the Waverley development in Rotherham from owners Harworth Estates.
It is the seventh phased residential land sale at the site, and Harron’s third, which will enable it to build 81 further family homes on the 740-acre site. Around 300 homes on the sire have been compeleted or are under construction, while the total number of plots purchased by housebuilders stands at 571.
There is outline planning consent for nearly 4,000 new homes at Waverley, which this year has seen the completion of a new estate road and services for the residential development, which open up further land, following the receipt of a £10.95m local infrastructure loan from the Homes & Communities Agency.  Marston’s also opened a new pub, the Winter Green, in July after a four-month build-out.
Duncan Armstrong-Payne, Development Manager of Waverley for Harworth Estates, said: “The huge amount of work we and our partners, such as Harron, have completed in 2014 has brought our vision for the scheme to life, and we look forward to welcoming more residents here in 2015 and beyond”.
Kevin Chapman, Land Manager of Harron Homes, said “We already enjoy an excellent working relationship with Harworth Estates and we have been impressed with how Waverley has developed as a community over the past two years.  Purchasing another phase of development therefore makes total sense for the company”.
Waverley is Yorkshire’s largest-ever mixed-use brownfield development, set over 740 acres in Rotherham.  Waverley will be home to a new community of 4,000 homes along with shops, restaurants, schools, leisure and community facilities and parks by 2030.  It is also already home to the nationally-significant Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), where more than 40 companies, including world-leading employers such as Rolls-Royce and Boeing, and the University of Sheffield are creating cutting-edge products used in aerospace, Formula One and Olympic sports among other industries.
