Severfield scores with Anfield win

STRUCTURAL steel group Severfield has been selected as the steelwork contractor for Liverpool Football Club’s main stand extension.
The North Yorkshire-based group will support main contractor Carillion as it adds 8,500 seats in the main stand, which will increase the overall capacity of Anfield Stadium to 54,000. It is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2016.
It has secured five other contracts – three commercial office developments in London, a major distribution centre in the Midlands and a waste-to-energy plant in Dublin – which, along with the Anfield deal, will be worth £43m.
Ian Lawson, chief executive of Severfield, said: “We are delighted to announce these multiple contract wins. It continues the momentum we’ve established in recent months, and all of these new contracts are in sectors where we have a strong market share or are seeing positive future trends.
“We are thrilled to be working for Carillion on such a high profile project as Anfield, especially as stadia is a sector where we have a demonstrable track record.”
Last month the group announced underlying pre-tax profitshad grown from £1.4m to £3m in the six months to September 30.

Its recent projects include the expansion of the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City and further manufacturing plants for Jaguar Land Rover.

This year it has also won new contracts including London commercial office developments at Principal Place and Angel Court, and the Ordsall Chord link bridge project between Manchester Victoria and Piccadilly stations.
