Yorkshire retailer to overhaul its IT systems

IT services provider PCMS is carrying out an IT overhaul for single price retailer Poundworld.

It is intended to support the firm’s long-term growth plans.

The 10-month project will see Poundworld implement a range of new IT systems to improve customer experience, efficiency and store management.

During phase one of the project, Poundworld will be rolling out PCMS’ Vision BeanStore Point of Sale (PoS) system which will enable faster transactions, better stock control and reduced training requirements.

In phase two, Poundworld will introduce SAP and Business Objects as central management tools to support more automation, and faster processes and reporting across the estate.

Poundworld has strong growth ambitions, aiming to double its current 260 strong portfolio of stores over the next five years.

Chris Edwards, its co-founder and managing director, said: “As our business expands geographically, we also want to expand our technological capability and create a platform to help us grow and achieve greater economies of scale.

“In PCMS, we have found a partner with passion and innate understanding of retail, which is demonstrated through its people and tier 1 customer base.

“We’re very excited about evolving our IT offer and seeing the benefits in terms of customer experience and estate management.”

Richard Goodall, group sales and marketing director at PCMS, said: “Poundworld is undergoing phenomenal growth, with further increases planned over the coming years.
“We’re delighted to be working with the company to ensure that its IT provision keeps pace and enables the organisation to have greater visibility and control centrally over its growing store network.”
