North Yorkshire care home sold for redevelopment

A MAJOR care home in Harrogate has been acquired in a deal which will see the redevelopment of the site.

Alexander Court Nursing Home, one of the largest properties on Harrogate’s prestigious Duchy Estate, has been acquired by premium care home operator Hadrian Healthcare.

The neighbouring Rutland Drive to the Duchy Estate was recently named as Yorkshire’s most expensive street.

Ian Wilkie, director of specialist healthcare property consultants HPC, which completed the deal, said: “The 85 bed home attracted strong interest from a variety of developers and care home operators. After interviewing a shortlist of potential purchasers, we were delighted to agree a deal with Hadrian Healthcare.”

Chairman of Hadrian Healthcare Group, Ian Watson, said: “We have been seeking a presence in Harrogate for some time now and we are delighted to have secured such a wonderful site for redevelopment.

“Our detailed plans will be announced some time soon but suffice to say we are very excited about creating what we believe will be the highest quality of elderly accommodation and care facility anywhere in the UK. This service will also very much complement our existing Home in Wetherby and a new Home in Knaresborough opening later this year.”
