Partnership scheme hits the high notes as it launches into the business community

OPERA NORTH launched its Business Partners scheme in appropriately-dramatic fashion at the Leeds Grand Theatre last night with a short performance by soprano Jennifer France.

The scheme aims to connect the company more directly with the region’s business community to build strong relationships close to home.

Opera North, which is the only national English opera company based outside London. has an international reputation for excellence and justifiably describes itself as a unique cultural and economic asset to Leeds and the North of England.

Paula Dillon, a partner at Bond Dickinson and vice chairman of the board of trustees at Opera North, said: “”It has been a fantastic event – and this is just the start.

“For a long time we have wanted to find a way to make proper contact with the business community, and the business partners scheme does that.

“As well as those that have signed up, we have lots more businesses that are interested.

“With Capital of Culture being talked about for Leeds, businesses are thinking about what culture does for our local economy and our community.

“Now is a really good time for businesses and Opera North to be thinking about how they can work together.”
