ROB Darrington, partner at Commercial Property Partners in Sheffield has been appointed chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) South Yorkshire Local Association (LA).

The South Yorkshire LA first launched over ten years ago. It exists to provide more opportunities for local chartered surveyors and other property professionals in the region to meet up and discuss matters important to all property sectors. The group also organise social events and provide low-cost seminars on a range of property related subjects.

Mr Darrington was previously chairman of the RICS matrics South Yorkshire – a networking and support group for surveying students, trainees and those with less than ten years surveying experience.

He said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as chair of this group. I hope to build on the achievements of the previous chairman – Lee Barron of Siemens – and expand attendance at our events by ensuring we provide a wide range of activities to suit all local property professionals, including topical seminars as well as fun socials. We already have a number of events penciled in the calendar.”
