Appointments: DTZ; Morrisons; Freedom Festival Trust

DTZ has recruited three staff to its Leeds-based UK development team.

Ben Pretty, William Steel and Harry Mason join the expanding team as associate director, planning consultant and graduate surveyor respectively.

The Leeds based UK Development team now comprises 10 staff and advises public and private sector clients on all aspects of the development process.

The team has advised two out of three of all the local authorities across the Yorkshire and Humber region over the past 18 months. It is currently advising on major town centre regeneration schemes nationally with a development value of over £500m.

The team also acts as DCLG’s preferred property adviser on 21 of the 24 Enterprise Zone sites nationally, including all EZs in the Yorkshire region.

Keith Hardman, senior director within the team, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ben, William and Harry to the team. The continued growth of our UK Development team in Leeds reflects DTZ’s response to our client needs and improving market conditions.”

RICHARD Gillingwater will not stand for re-election as a non-executive director of Morrisons at its next annual general meeting in June.

Mr Gillingwater made the decision to step down following notice of his appointment as chairman elect of SSE.

He said: “I have had a thoroughly rewarding few years on the board of Morrisons, notwithstanding the considerable recent upheaval in the supermarket industry. However, my appointment as chairman of SSE coupled with my other responsibilities will require a significant time commitment. I have therefore reluctantly advised Morrisons of my decision not to seek re-election.”

Andrew Higginson, chairman of Morrisons, said: “I would like to thank Richard for his sound advice to Morrisons, and also for giving the company early notice of this decision. On behalf of Morrisons, I wish Richard the very best for the future.”
