Lloyds Bank deputy chairman to lead Croda

CHEMICALS business Croda International has appointed Anita Frew, the deputy chairman of Lloyds Banking Group, to lead the company.

Ms Frew joins the board with immediate effect and will succeed Martin Flower, who is retiring after 10 years as chairman of the Goole-based company in September.

Ms Frew has held board positions with both FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies across a range of sectors for the past 18 years.

She was on the board of Victrex, the speciality chemicals company, for 14 years, including six years as chairman. As well as her role at Lloyds Banking Group, Ms Frew is a senior independent director of IMI.

Ms Frew said: “I feel tremendous affinity with Croda given the group’s strong focus on innovation, R&D and new product development for its global customer base. It is an exceptionally well managed and invested business and I look forward to working with the senior team and building on the good growth momentum that has been achieved in 2014.”

Mr Flower added: “Anita’s depth of boardroom experience and strong understanding of the speciality chemicals sector will be of enormous benefit to Croda. I am delighted to be handing over the reins to someone with such impeccable credentials. I am very pleased to welcome Anita to the board and look forward to working closely with her over the coming months.”
