In Brief: Doncaster Sheffield Airport; LBA; Sharp Consultancy

DONCASTER SHEFFIELD AIRPORT has announced that Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, will be flying five times a week between Doncaster and Dublin.

The new route from Doncaster Sheffield Airport means that passengers can save hours off journey times to North America travelling via Dublin.

The flights, which will start on May 29, provide connections to Aer Lingus’ transatlantic services to New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto.

Dublin Airport offers US-bound passengers immigration and customs pre-clearance services so there are no border checks upon arrival.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “This is fantastic news and we are delighted to welcome Aer Lingus Regional to Doncaster.

“The new route not only gives passengers a much needed route to Dublin but provides the transatlantic links to New York, Boston, Chicago and Boston.”

Meanwhile, Leeds Bradford passengers travelling to North America with Aer Lingus are also being encouraged to fast track through Dublin Airport.

Aer Lingus Regional operates up to twice daily from Leeds to Dublin, increasing to up to three times daily from March 29.

Last year, Aer Lingus launched new services from Dublin to San Francisco and Toronto and from May this year, a new four times weekly service will start to Washington DC. The San Francisco service will operate daily from May 1 and Aer Lingus will also have three daily departures to New York during the peak summer season.

SHARP CONSULTANCY, which specialises in financial and HR recruitment, is to create 10 new jobs at its offices in Leeds and Sheffield this year.

The newly created positions will see the firm add to its team of consultants working within financial and accountancy recruitment as well as the expansion of its recently established HR division which was launched at the beginning of the year.

Mark Wilson, managing director, said: “As the economy shows positive signs of recovery across a number of sectors and industries we are seeing an increasing number of organisations invigorate their recruitment activity. Candidates are also much more confident about their future prospects; where previously they may have exercised caution and been reluctant to move from their current positions, we are now seeing much more movement as confidence begins to return.”

Sharp Consultancy was established in 1992 opening its first office in Sheffield before expanding into Leeds, Doncaster and Manchester.
