Construction boost as Southdale wins £10.5m contracts

CONSTRUCTION firm Southdale has won £10.5m of new contracts and is aiming to support its Yorkshire supply chain creating new jobs.

Halifax-based Southdale has secured the work, in South and West Yorkshire, with more than 100 homes being built, including 87 homes for Great Places Housing Trust in two phases of building at Maltravers Way, Sheffield.

Work is due to start in April and be completed by July 2016.

The contracts also include a 20-house build at Prince Street, Bradford, for Home Group. Work is due to start this month and be completed by January 2016.

Stuart Allison, Southdale’s managing director for Yorkshire, said: “These contracts will not only create work for our own Yorkshire-based team, but will significantly filter into the local supply chains in the Bradford and Sheffield markets.

“These projects will not only create homes for people to live in, they will create opportunities and jobs, including apprenticeship opportunities, in and around the cities, as we use almost exclusively local supply chain companies and labour.

“This work represents part of a strong start to 2015 for Southdale in Yorkshire and is something upon which we are looking to build over the coming months.”
