£1.6m machinery investment for Kolorcraft

SIGNAGE manufacturer Kolorcraft, which designs point of sale for major retailers and brands, has invested over £600,000 in two new pieces of specialist automated print finishing equipment.

This follows on from a £1 million investment in two new wide-format digital presses last September.

The new machinery will automate the process of taping and gluing individual elements of point of sale together that Kolorcraft has until now completed by hand.
Based in Ossett for over 35 years, Kolorcraft is one of the largest point-of-sale designers and producers in the UK and has a £25m turnover.

The company employs over 200 people  providing in-store design, print and display solutions for blue-chip brands, high-street and out-of-town retail customers, including Andrex.

Phil Findlay, managing director, Kolorcraft said: “Ours is an incredibly competitive market place and automating these processes means we can offer faster turnaround, more consistency and lower costs to clients.

“Given we’re the only UK company that currently offers this combined technology, it puts us in a very strong position to both secure existing business and attract new customers,”

The new TAPEJET® machine is the first of its kind in the UK and provides accurate, rapid application of a wide range of speciality tapes of all widths, while the GLUEJET® combines hot melt and cold PVA to provide fast, accurate and durable bonds.

Investment in the new kit was made possible by an asset-funding package provided by HSBC Bank plc.

Mike Swift, HSBC area director of West & South Yorkshire Corporate Banking said: “I am delighted we have been able to support Kolorcraft; an innovative business with ambitious plans.

“We are very impressed by the company’s achievements to date, its prospects for growth, and I look forward to watching their progress.”

Kolorcraft’s premises houses nearly 200,000 sq ft of production and warehousing space providing multi-process print production including large format litho, wide format, flat-bed and reel-to-reel, along with small format digital print and large format screen process.
