Red’s brings true barbecue to London with £1.4m restaurant

THE entrepreneurs behind the Red’s True Barbecue eatery are set to open in Shoreditch in London this summer with a £1.4m investment in the new site.

London’s long-awaited arrival of Red’s True Barbecue is confirmed for Shoreditch this summer.

The fast-growing smokehouse group, which already has four sites in the north and the midlands, including its flagship base in Leeds, is expanding its brand of barbecue to the capital this July.

At 52-54 Great Eastern street, a 5,400 sq. ft. building will house the new restaurant. It will be the first time Red’s will work with designers Russell Sage to bring its well-known eatery to London, creating 150-covers split over two floors.

James Douglas, Red’s co-founder, said: “For the last two years we’ve worked hard to build a trusted brand portfolio serving more than 70,000 believers each month.

“London was always part of the strategy. Now with our strengthened management team, the time and location is right to strike. Unlike the north where a huge part of our role as brand leaders has been to educate customers about US barbecue, there is already a saliency here in London.
“We think we can capitalise on this with our authentic style, commitment to quality, great design and lively guest experience. Red’s will for sure bring something unique to Shoreditch.”
