Craft brewers behind resurgence of cans says supplier

MD Engineering Solutions has seen a resurgence in canned beer and beverages, which it says is due the revival of craft brewing.

The firm recently signed a collaboration agreement to install Colorado’s Wild Goose Canning International small canning machines to suit smaller brewers.

Their CanCraft range for the UK & European market was launched at the SIBA BeerX 2015 exhibition recently held in Sheffield, UK.

Wild Goose Canning International has expanded their operations to the UK and their collaboration agreement with MD Engineering Solutions Ltd will expand their reach throughout the UK and Ireland.

Director of MD Engineering, David Hallas, said: “Canning has been away for a while in the UK, partly because of the rise of the bottle.

“The rise of craft brewers, with approximately 1,400 small batch brewers in the UK, who are often specialist, have increased the popularity of canning due to costs compared to glass.

“They normally don’t produce the volume of product to use your standard mass production canning machines, but smaller ones are now becoming popular.
They can be better designed, less expensive and canned beverages also retain flavour and last longer than in a bottle.”

MD Engineering Solutions director Matthew Horsey “We believe that canning is certainly a growing area in the UK and will continue to be a growth sector. Our research confirmed that Wild Goose already have an excellent reputation in the US for quality and innovative products.”

Wild Goose Canning International managing director Thomas Gagliano added: “We believe that canning is a growth market for the UK which, will enable our customers to brew locally but sell globally”

“Supporting our customers with a local presence is a high priority for us and we want to ensure we are providing them with the best installation and technical backup.

“We believe that the skills, experience and attitude of MD Engineering Solutions replicate our core beliefs in providing our customers with the best service locally”

The first shipment of canning machines are due to be installed in various locations in May 2015.
