Clipper deal will help launch UK fashion group led by former Asda CEO

CLIPPER LOGISTICS is to support the UK launch and fast growth of Pep & Co, which is being led by former Asda chief executive Andy Bond, after securing its latest contract.

The Leeds-based group will provide warehousing, returns management and other logistics services for Pep & Co’s fashion, accessories and general merchandise from its distribution centre at Swadlincote, south Derbyshire.

Pep & Co will offer “family fashion at amazing prices” when it launches this summer. It plans to open its first store, in Kettering, Northamptonshire in July and expects to have 50 outlets open by the end of August, selling family fashion and homewares on the high street, aimed at mums and kids.

The company is backed by a South African group, Pepkor, which owns 3,700 clothes stores worldwide.

Steve Parkin, executive chairman of Clipper, said: “This [deal] follows closely on the heels of several new contract wins for Clipper including a new 10-year contract with John Lewis Partnership and the new Zara e-fulfilment contract announced last week.

“This clearly demonstrates the very significant progress made by the group since its flotation last year. Our innovative, solutions driven approach to retail logistics makes Clipper class leading and the go to provider of logistics services in the UK.”
