Poundworld bargains for Europe with new e-commerce offering

POUNDWORLD has officially launched its online e-commerce brand, Poundworld Plus, enabling the family-run discounter to sell its bargains EU-wide and making it the first single-priced retailer to launch an online shopping site.

The new sites will initially offer delivery to the UK, Aire and Channel Islands only with plans to deliver EU-wide from summer 2015.

The family firm is run by father and son team Chris Edwards and Chris Edwards Jr and currently has over 270 high street stores.

Poundworld currently has a turnover of over £345 million and has invested heavily in the business over the past couple of years to drive its strong aspirations for growth.

In particular, Poundworld recently announced investment in a major 10 month IT overhaul and in June 2014 secured over £26 million in new funding from Santander Corporate and Commercial to support ambitions to double store numbers in the next five years.

Poundworld Plus will offer its customers over 4,000 products including brands such as Colgate, Coca Cola and Johnsons.

The new online brand will also sell an added ‘Plus’ of over 1,000 multi-price deals for over £1 that will be available exclusively to buy online.
