Manufacturing 2015: make your voice heard

THE opportunities, confidence and also bugbears and frustrations faced by manufacturers are being gauged in a major research project launched by TheBusinessDesk and international law firm Squire Patton Boggs.

The first stage of the interactive project, which is running across our three regions, is the launch of survey, which can be completed here.

It addresses key topics such as skills shortages, the supply chain, education, membership of the EU, access to finance, energy and reshoring.

We’ll then gather the data and use this insight to set the agenda for a series of round tables in May and June with leaders of manufacturing businesses and sector experts, which will then be published on our website later in the summer.

Karen French of Squire Patton Boggs in Leeds said: “This survey will act as a useful barometer for the manufacturing sector in our region. With a long history of working with manufacturers, we are keen to champion their cause; manufacturing strength is critical to the growth of the UK economy and our standing on a regional, national and international stage.”

TheBusinessDesk.com Yorkshire Editor Alex Turner said: “The manufacturing sector remains vitally important to the economic health of this region, whether automotive, aerospace, heavy industry, precision or high tech manufacturing, and we are excited to be taking the pulse of industry at this time.

“We look forward to learning what manufacturers say will help them unlock further growth and innovation.”
