Race heats up as more firms rise to the Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge

THE Yorkshire business community has seen a wave of sign-ups as more corporates join in the competitive race, a key part of the flagship Asda Foundation 10K organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All.

Hundreds of people from the corporate world are getting ready to take part in this year’s event, which has been sponsored by law firm Clarion since it was first held in 2007.

TheBusinessDesk.com is the official media partner of the Clarion Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge.

Mike Pullon, chief executive, Varlink Limited said: “I am a long-time admirer of Jane Tomlinson, of what she achieved and now of her legacy. I’ve been delighted to support Run for All by running three of the York 10K races and both of the York marathons.

“The team has decided to take this opportunity to raise some money for a charity, and due to events that have touched a number of us, selected Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Six Varlink employees will be joining Mr Pullon.

Rory Davis, Kings Chambers said: “Amongst the Kings Chambers’ barristers and clerks we have a number of keen sportsmen and women so we were delighted to enter a team in this year’s Clarion 10k Corporate Challenge.

“For seven years the challenge has been an increasing success, raising a substantial amount for the Run For All charity and as a proud part of the Leeds business community we’ll be making an extra effort to get everyone across the finish line in double quick time.”

Andrew Byram of Armstrong Watson said: “This will be the 8th consecutive year that Armstrong Watson have entered a team in the Corporate Challenge.

“This is a fantastic event and we are proud to be once again taking part.

“The finish line is also a few strides away from our new Leeds office on South Parade.

“Over the years members of the Leeds team have taken part for several reason, including personal challenges to get fit. In the process we have raise lots of money for worthy causes.

“This year there will be once again inter-office rivalry at Armstrong Watson as the Leeds office team will go head-to-head with a team from our Northallerton office.

“This will give an added spice to what is already a wonderful corporate event. This year Armstrong Watson will have its largest number of runners taking part in the Corporate Challenge.”
