Bradford cinema development ‘to create 100 jobs’

AROUND 100 jobs could be created if a cinema complex is given the go ahead in Bradford.

There are further plans in the works for the Broadway shopping centre development.

Meyer Bergman, advised by Westfield, has announced plans to transform the mainly vacant property at 14-20 Broadway into a boutique cinema, dining and leisure development.

The plans, which would create over 100 jobs when complete, will go on display at the Forster’s Bistro on Saturday 25 April, between 10am and 4pm, and members of the public are invited to attend, review the proposals and leave their feedback.

George Walsh-Waring, Principal at Meyer Bergman’s said: “We’re delighted to announce our plans to bring further investment to Bradford through the redevelopment of this property next to The Broadway site. Our plans include a top-floor boutique cinema and a number of cafes and bars at ground level.

“We feel this will be great for the city, providing more dining and leisure choice, and we’re eager to hear what the people of Bradford think. I’d encourage everyone living and working in the area to pop into our exhibition on Saturday 25 April where they’ll be able to have a look at the proposals and leave any feedback they have.”

The Broadway shopping centre, which is expected to create around 2,500 jobs, is set to open this autumn.

Almost 70% of the £260m shopping centre’s units have now been filled, with leading retailers including Debenhams, Next and Marks & Spencer already signed up to take space.
