London processing firm makes a new home in Hull creating 20 jobs

LONDON-based payments processor PaymentSense has acquired a Hull office, creating 20 jobs in the area.

The firm has already recruited 12 people and is increasing the team to 20 as it establishes its Hull base as a training centre, after selecting the city for expansion.

PaymentSense was launched in 2010 by entrepreneurs George Karibian and Jon Farrarons. The firm has now established bases in London, Mumbai and Boston, and processing card payments worth over £3bn a year from more than 30,000 SMEs.

Guy Moreve, head of marketing at PaymentSense, said the move to Hull is a key part of the company’s expansion strategy.
He said: “PaymentSense was ranked seventh in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 for 2014 and has been shortlisted for the National Business Awards and European Business Awards.

“Hull was the natural choice for PaymentSense to expand into given the city’s transport links from London and the north, as well as the availability of highly-skilled telephony agents.

“We also felt that the aspirations of Hull as a city closely reflected those of PaymentSense. The City of Culture 2017 is a huge achievement for Hull and we’re looking forward to being part of the city as it puts on a show for the rest of the UK.

The firm completed its deal for the new property with Hull firm Allenby Commercial.

Charlie Allenby, contracts manager at Allenby Commercial, said: “We have owned Chariot House for about 10 years. It has been empty for about a year and recently became available after being refurbished to provide high quality accommodation with modern, efficient lighting, fully-integrated intercom and CCTV and with KC Lightstream connectivity.

“PaymentSense moved in to the top floor, an area of more than 2,500 sq ft. As a fast-growing company, based in London and operating globally, PaymentSense could have gone anywhere.”
