Humber goes green with the launch of £4.5m recycling facility

RECYCLING firm Biowise has opened the doors on their £4.5m facility which is set to process over 60,000 tonnes of waste per year.

In 2014 the firm, in partnership with Hartlepool’s J&B Recycling, was awarded a 10-year contract to process waste by the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Councils, covering 263,000 households.

Biowise, which also trades as Wastewise, invested in the project, with funding assistance from the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, as well as Yorkshire Bank and Close Brothers Asset Finance

Lord Haskins, chairman of the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership and winner of TheBusinessDesk.com Business Masters 2015 Ambassador of the year award said: “Humber Local Enterprise Partnership is at the forefront of driving growth and prosperity for the region and I am delighted to open this state of the art In-Vessel Composting facility.

“This is a great example of how we can work with local businesses to help them grow and create new jobs. I wish Biowise every success,”

James Landau, managing director at Biowise said “This facility will help address the shortage of waste treatment facilities in the area and prevent waste having to be transported long distances to be recycled.

“A large percentage of the area’s waste will now be managed locally which has attracted investment into the local economy, created a number of local jobs and safeguarded others .”
