Grade II-listed school transformed in £3m residential development

TWO property firms have teamed up on a £3m development project in Rothwell.

Chartered surveyors Richard Boothroyd & Associates have been appointed by Leeds-based Advent Developments to project manage the redevelopment of the former Rothwell Primary and Nursery School.

The Grade-II listed building will be converted into 14 homes, that have been “sympathetically designed” to fit in with the Victorian site, which was originally built in 1879.

Tom Ward, of Richard Boothroyd & Associates, attended the school and is taking a trip down memory lane being involved in its development.

He said: “I grew up in Rothwell and have lived in the area my whole life. I can vividly remember attending Rothwell Primary and Nursery School in the early 1980’s and some of my earliest childhood memories span from my time there.

“The entire development is designed to maximise the building’s character and features, and it’s being finished to an exceptional standard, so there’s no doubt it will make a fantastic place to live.”

Tim Reeve, of Advent Developments, said: “We have an enviable reputation for transforming heritage buildings into exceptional residential schemes that stand out from the crowd.

“We always make the most of a building’s history and personality which are both vital components in any development like this.

“The fact that Tom is so familiar with the building is an additional asset to have and there’s no doubt his enthusiasm and local knowledge will be reflected throughout the development.”

Advent is due to start work on an £8m housing development, Greenhill Fold, that will see a former school in Upper Wortley transformed into a village development consisting of 49 high quality homes.
