ENTREPRENEURS Stuart Goulden and Rick Chadwick have launched a co-working space for individuals and SMEs in York.

30 spaces will be available after the renovation of the Pavement Vaults public house on York’s Pavement.

The duo have said they aim to create an inspiring working environment in which like-minded creatives and startups can grow their businesses.

Mr Chadwick said: “We’ve looked long and hard for the right space. What we ultimately found was somewhere that had been untouched this century but had the potential to be amazing.

“We’re sure it’s a place people will love as much as we do and will enjoy taking their clients.”

Mr Goulden said: “York is an exciting place to be right now for the creative sector as the UK’s first UNESCO City of Media Arts and it’s good to be able to help give them a city centre home and meeting place. I look forward to opening our doors and working amongst all that talent.”

LAMBERT’S YARD was involved in its second university fashion collaboration last month.Lamberts Yard

Three graduates from the Leeds College of Art hosted a popup shop within the store.

Grace Johnson, Marissa Ellis-Dokubo and Laura Way from the fashion communication course were picked by Lambert’s Yard retail director Adam Jagger to showcase their designs.

Adam Jagger said: “Lambert’s Yard is hugely committed to working with fashion courses in the region, bridging the gap between study and career success.

“The standard of design and tailoring by all the graduates was incredibly but Grace, Marissa and Lara’s collections were outstanding and, commercially, they sit well against the established independent designers we already stock.”

ONLINE event provider Ivent has had a successful year after being appointed by Manchester Metropolitan University to deliver several virtual events.

The aim is to attract undergraduates and postgraduates through online open days and recruitment programmes.

Leeds-based Ivent has also been recommissioned by York, Kings College, Middlesex and London City universities, and Leeds Trinity is set to sign up.

Gavin Newman, Ivent director said: “We are pleased to be working with all of these Universities to create and build on the success of their existing online events environments.

“The results these institutions are enjoying from their online events are clearly a driving factor in the decision to re-appoint Ivent to develop their environments even further. And the results speak for themselves – one event hosted by York University attracted 430 registrations, with 98% attending the event.

“With robust results like this, it’s understandable and perhaps predictable that Universities, including Manchester Metropolitan will increasingly favour cost effective online events over the resource intensive and costly traditional counterpart.”
