Coffee emporium buzzing after exceeding growth targets

ARTISAN coffee roaster, the York Coffee Emporium is moving to bigger premises ahead of schedule as new customer gains required expansion.

The family business has been owned by Laurence and Philippa Beardmore since 2012 and is now relocating from the London Ebor Business Park.

The Emporium has acquired a 3,000 sq ft at Rose Centre Business Park .

The new premises will also have 2,000 sq ft for offices with a showroom and packaging room.

They are on track for £750,000 turnover this year, after seeing half a million in revenues last year.

All profits will be invested back in the business to create jobs , said the firm.

Owner Laurence Beardmore said: “Our current premises have served us well for almost three years but now we need more space to capitalise on our growth and accommodate future expansion.

“Every time we grow we need to store more green coffee which we roast to our own particular standard then store again. We also take great care to roast by single origin for blending because it tastes far better but this also adds to our storage requirements.

“We are also building in future growth with our relocation as we aim to buy a new coffee roasting machine to increase capacity and want to take on two new apprentice coffee roasters and two interns from York University who will work on specific projects.”
