Winder Power energised with multi-million pound contract

LEEDS-BASED Winder Power has been awarded a “multi-million-pound” contract with Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution.

The firm will create 15 jobs directly, as an extended workforce is needed to deliver the contract to supply bulk framework for the energy firm’s main distribution transformers.

Winder Power will commence its contract on 1 July 2015 and will run for five years.

SSEPD is part of the SSE group involved in producing, transmitting, distributing and supplying electricity and gas, through operations in the UK and Ireland.

Paul Matthews, executive director at, Winder Power, said, “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this contract by SSEPD. Contracts like this are really important for our business and ensure that we continue to maintain and indeed create jobs in the UK.

“We look forward to further developing our strong working relationship with SSEPD into the future following the award of this contract. This is one of the largest contracts that Winder Power has secured in its 120-year history.
