Appointments: Bilfinger GVA, BDO, Michael Lewin, Vantage Motor Group

COMMERCIAL property consultancy Bilfinger GVA has made a raft of appointments, including a director.

Dai Powell has been appointed to director of planning, development and regeneration.

Other promotions within the firm include those of new associates Anne Hargreaves, (planning, development and regeneration) Joel Crossfield (restructuring and recovery)
and Oli Williams (property management consultancy)

Adam Osborne has also been promoted to principal surveyor in Mr Powell’s division. So have senior surveyors Rob Devoy and Helen Metcalfe.

ACCOUNTANCY firm BDO has gained another partner with the promotion of Dan Brookes.

He has been appointed as partner and head of international tax in Yorkshire, after joining the firm six years ago.

With partners from UKTI and the banking community, further seminars on operating in the US, Germany and India will be hosted by Mr Brookes’team this year.

He is one of nine new partners across at BDO, whose promotion will be effective from 6 July 2015.

“Dan has significant experience in dealing with complex tax planning structures, and is well respected among colleagues and corporates alike.

The team earlier this year welcomed tax director Tom Roseff from a Big Four firm and transfer pricing expert Judith Henry from British American Tobacco. Emma Oakes, who previously worked at BDO, is re-joining from PwC in the summer.

SOLICITORS Michael Lewin have recruited Kaye Barnard who has joined the firm from True Solicitors.

She joins a team of eight in her department, which specialises in claims for stress at work.

Richard Coulthard, head of the department, said:”We are pleased to have secured the employment of Kaye who will be a great asset to the team. Kaye has extensive litigation experience and will support our continued expansion.”

VANTAGE MOTOR GROUP has appointed Caroline Boothroyd in the newly-created role, group head of people and development.

She has previously worked at the Arcadia Group, Asda and more recently Taylor Wimpey, where she was learning and development manager for the UK.

The firm was founded in Harrogate in 2003. The group now has over 500 employees and 21 dealerships across Northern England and the West Midlands representing Toyota, Kia, Citroen, Honda, Hyundai, ŠKODA, and Lexus. Turnover to the end of 2014 was £174m.
