Planners start on £250m city centre regeneration

A MAJOR city centre regeneration scheme is in the works for Sheffield.

The £250m scheme from developers and investors Urbo Regeneration have appointed planning consultancy HOW to lead the scheme forward.

HOW will develop planning proposals for the West Bar area of the city, which will incorporate up to 140,000 sq m of accommodation over the 2.9 hectare site.

The proposals so far cover the regeneration of the quarter of Sheffield city centre with mixed-use residential, retail and hospitality sites.

HOW will work with 5Plus Architects and Urbed to develop an outline planning application.

Jon Suckley, partner at HOW Planning: “There has been a lot of talk about this area of Sheffield for sometime. Urbo are proposing an exciting regeneration scheme which will make a significant contribution to the city, by improving a key gateway site which is in urgent need of new investment.”
