NETWORK RAIL are basing their newest maintenance project at the RTC Business Park in Derby with help from Leeds-based chartered surveyors Sanderson Weatherall.

The firm signed a 15,818 sq ft site at Brunel House for five years, to use as a base to facilitate the electrification and resignalling infrastructure project on UK railway lines.

London and Continental Railways’ property manager, Steve White, said: “Attracting a tenant of the calibre of Network Rail underlines the RTC Business Park’s reputation as a centre for rail and engineering excellence.

“Sanderson Weatherall’s team worked tirelessly to secure terms that were favourable to both parties and without their skilful negotiation on our behalf the deal would not have been possible.”

Sanderson Weatherall’s associate partner in corporate real estate, Luke Barrett, said: “We are delighted to have secured this lease on behalf of our client.

“The deal will regenerate the building and provide ideal headquarters from which Network Rail can operate the project.

“It represents one of the largest single transactions in the city so we’re very pleased to have persuaded Network Rail to come to the RTC over the alternatives.”

Sanderson Weatherall’s Leeds office employs 95 specialist chartered surveyors and skilled support staff and operates across the Yorkshire region.

They will work closely with their London office, which was established in 2010 for a two-phase Royal Wharf residential project in conjunction with Ballymore Developments and Oxley Holdings to deliver 3,500 homes in the Docklands area of London.

“We have grown from 55 staff pre-recession to over 140 now and have just been ranked for the first time in the “AJ120” (Architects Journal) as one of the UK’s largest Architects.

“Our growth across the whole of the Residential sector, including Student Living, has been a major part of our success.”
