Best year ever for recruitment firm as industry picks up

RECRUITMENT consultancy Thorn Baker has reported its best year ever, seeing turnover increase to nearly £25m.

This is an increase on £21m last year, and in the past 10 months the firm has seen over 400 clients sign up.

Thorn Baker has increased its growth by 20%, ahead of the industry average which was 8% growth, according to the Recruitment & Employment Confederation.

Construction, industrial and facilities management divisions showed the biggest growth at Thorn Baker, with an upturn in work.

The firm is also investing in its own staff, launching a training programme, TB², for its new and existing staff, which was written in conjunction with industry professional Jeremy Snell.

Paul Jackman, a director at the firm, which is based in Nottingham and has bases in Leeds and Chesterfield, as well as London, Manchester Newcastle and Birmingham, said: “Thorn Baker has had a really great year – we couldn’t be more proud of the efforts of our whole team.

“As a result, we have been able to create more job opportunities, further engage our workforce and initiate better training schemes for our staff.

“Last year, we invested heavily in hiring and developing the capability of our people, to provide a stronger leadership team and have also been able to consider expansion.

“We have always had a clear vision of what we want to achieve and we hope that by investing in these opportunities, we will be able to provide our clients with a better service.”
