Appointments: Morrisons; PhysioMed, UTC Leeds

SUPERMARKET group Morrisons has announced that Irwin Lee will join the board as a non-executive director in September.

Mr Lee is currently vice president and managing director of Procter & Gamble Northern Europe with responsibility for the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. He will retire in August after 30 years with the company.

Andrew Higginson, chairman of Morrisons, said: “I am delighted that Irwin will be joining Morrisons. Irwin will bring his huge experience in the consumer goods industry, a deep understanding of the UK grocery market and an excellent track record of leadership at one of our largest suppliers.

“I am very pleased to welcome him to the board of Morrisons where I am sure he will play an important role.”

Mr Lee said: “I am really looking forward to joining Morrisons and making a contribution, as a member of the board, to the turnaround of the company.”

PHYSIOTHERAPY firm PhysioMed has hired Giles Cressey as financial controller.

He will oversee the implementation of finance software at PhysioMed after 22 years of experience in finance and accounts, in both practice and the construction industry and recently at Redsky IT.

Phil Clayton, managing director of Physio Med, said: “We’re pleased to have an experienced, dedicated professional such as Giles working with us to help us reach the next stage in our development.

“Implementing software to provide real time management information will free up management time and improve business growth – a great step forward for Physio Med.”

THE University Technical College in Leeds, set to open in September 2016, has appointed a principal designate.

Mark Kennedy is currently vice principal at Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy, will take up the position as head of UTC Leeds from August 2015.

Phil Ball, managing director at Kodak and a member of the UTC Leeds steering group, says: “All of us that were involved in the interview process were incredibly impressed with how well Mark was able to understand our ethos and vision for UTC Leeds.

“Having worked at a successful UTC already, Mark is able to understand the importance of both the employer involvement and how important it is to blend academic and vocational studies so that students get the best education possible.

“Mark will be in place from August 2015 in preparation for opening in September 2016.

“This will give him the opportunity to work with the UTC’s sponsors and supporters to develop an innovative curriculum that will meet the needs of students and employers in the region.”
