Construction firm plants seed of growth with starter investment

CONSTRUCTION company Fast-Form Systems has high export hopes after securing Seedcorn funding from Finance Yorkshire.

A £350,000 funding pack was secured from the funding organisation’s early stage ventures pot to invest in staff and stock.

The firm, which was founded in 2014 and now employs 10 people, supplies reusable, adjustable steel brackets to hold plywood or polymer boards in place during concrete pours.

Fast-Form has secured a contract with construction giant Balfour Beatty to help prevent flooding on the London Underground and has also won contracts with the Ministry of Defence and Network Rail.

According to an independent study by the Grimsby Institute, Fast-Form helps reduce the carbon footprint of a concrete pour by up to 10 times, and reduce build times and costs.

Founder Tony White, who invented the firm’s signature bracket 20 years ago, said: “The impact on carbon footprint is pretty dramatic. If you factor in a busy company with multiple sites then the savings with our system are immense.

“We have proved the business model and the concept, now we are looking at export for growth. We are already getting enquiries from the Middle East, USA and Australia and will look to expand in these markets via the local distributor networks.”

Finance Yorkshire investment manager Graham Davies added: “When we were first introduced to Fast-Form Systems, we knew Tony was on to something special.

“It’s fantastic to see him using his vision and experience to win new contracts and we share his vision that Fast-Form Systems has tremendous export potential.”
