Charity: Jane Tomlinson Appeal, The Christie, York Blind and Partially Sighted Society

A TEAM of engineers from Adept Civil and Structural Consulting completed the JLL Property Triathlon North, at Media City in Manchester.

The Leeds team from Adept, including Erol Erturan, Mathew Ramsden and Chris Brown, were raising money for two charities, Starlight and The Christie.

The Christie is one of the largest hospital charities which treats more than 44,000 cancer sufferers every year.

Starlight grants the wishes of seriously and terminally ill children in hospitals across the UK.

The event raised £22,000 for the two charities.

Adept’s director, Matthew Ramsden, says: “There were hundreds of competitors taking part in a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km run, as individuals and in teams.

“Anyone from the property industry could take part and we thought it was a great way for us to help raise funds for two hugely deserving charities in Starlight and The Christie.”

The JLL Property Triathlon North is the sister event to the highly successful Property Triathlon and Property Swim which was held earlier this month at Dorney Lake near Eton.

Now into its ninth year, this event is firmly established as one of the UK’s top five largest triathlons and has so far raised £1.3 million for charity.

CONSTRUCTION firm William Anelay has raised £8,000 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

The team had planned to raise £5,000 but smashed their targets after participating in a series of events including the Welsh 3000 mountain walking challenge, which saw the team attempt to take on 15 Welsh mountains in 24 hours.

It will also announce it intends to support the Appeal and its work for a further four years, in a bid to raise a total of £50,000.

William Anelay’s managing director Tony Townend, said: “It is extremely pleasing to be able to pass on this increased donation to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, which is our company’s official charity and supports so many good causes in our region.

“Everybody at William Anelay has embraced our partnership with the Appeal with genuine passion and commitment. We wanted to celebrate this and raise even greater awareness of the charity with this banner in the city-centre.”

Mike Tomlinson, of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, said: “We cannot thank William Anelay enough – what a remarkable amount to have raised.

“A huge well done to all of the staff who completed some truly fantastic challenges to support the Appeal; we’re absolutely thrilled to have the support of the company for another four years.”
