Filmore & Union smash crowdfunding targets

HEALTHY food firm Filmore & Union has been overfunded by more than £430,000 on their crowdfunding campaign, nearly hitting £1m of investment.

The York-based firm launched their campaign on Crowdcube in May, asking for investment of £500,000, and have now raised £931,960 from 317 investors in return for 22.28% equity.

In addition to 7 existing sites, Filmore & Union is planning on opening restaurants in Harrogate and Beverley by September, and following this, an expansion of their Wetherby site.

Group turnover reached £3.2m in 2014 and is expected to rise by £3.8m with their upcoming expansion plans.

The company was launched in 2011 by Adele Carnell, a former wellness clinic founder, and Michelin-star chef Will Pugh.

Filmore & Union’s director, Adele Carnell, said “We can’t believe we’ve managed to overfund by such a large amount – the response from customers and investors from across the country has been overwhelming and we want to thank everyone for their support during our journey so far.

The majority of our investment has come from our customers which we are so honoured by and can’t wait to open up more Filmore & Unions across the region to meet their requests.

Overfunding has meant we are able to speed up our growth which hopefully means investors will see a return quicker than planned.”
