IT firm launches Leeds training academy

IT SERVICES provider FDM Group launched its Leeds office last night after it relocated its training academy across the Pennines.
The company trains graduates and ex-Forces personnel into IT and business consultants and places them at companies including Sky, Yorkshire Building Society and Asda amongst others.
The Leeds training centre, at Whitehall Riverside, employs around 150 people.
Rod Flavell, founder and chief executive of FDM Group, described Leeds city region as “a vibrant centre of graduate talent” and said it was an easy decision to move from Manchester.
He said: “It has been a 25-year journey to get to Yorkshire. My first client was the Bradford & Bingley and I’m still trying to get through Bradford.
“I have always had fond memories of the financial technology scene around Leeds.
“We are the new kids on the block but we have some fantastic companies that back the business.”
Speaking at the launch Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, welcomed the company, and said: “It is exciting for Leeds to get the recognition of a company like FDM that they have the faith to come to us.
“I believe FDM’s experience in working with trainees and graduates will bring expertise to Leeds and I am thrilled you have come.”
