EMIS returns healthy profits as investments take effect

LEEDS-BASED software firm EMIS has had a healthy year so far as care providers continue to digitise, and the firm continues to make acquisitions.

In July this year, the firm acquired Pinbellcom, a £1.2m turnover Leeds firm, for £3.0m to add to its IT offering.

Pretax profits to 30 June 2015 were up from £12.6m to £13.6m and revenues in the first half were up to £77.8m on the same period last year when turnover reached £66.4m.

Chris Spencer, chief executive officer of EMIS Group said: “As well as the group’s strong organic revenue visibility, order book and pipelines, anticipated earnings enhancement continues to be delivered by the Group’s 2014 acquisitions.

“In a speech at the King’s Fund, on 16 July 2015, Jeremy Hunt, The Secretary of State for Health for England, said: ‘Within the next five years our electronic health records will be available seamlessly in every care setting. You will be able to access them, share them, mark preferences, and shape the care that you want around them.’

“EMIS Group sees this as continuing validation of its strategy of facilitating the delivery of patient-centred care through its unique portfolio of connected products and services.”
