Aviation firm flying high with first overseas base

DONCASTER-BASED Weston Aviation has signed a deal to launch a business aviation centre at Cork Airport.

Weston will be located at the airport’s executive hangar and office facilities, and is the first venture out of the UK forthe firm, which is based at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The firm, which was established in 1995, operates at four UK airports offering fixed-base operations and cargo handling, as well as aircraft charter services.

Weston has bases at Newquay Cornwall Airport, Durham Tees Valley Airport, and Humberside International Airport in addition to its headquarters in South Yorkshire.

Nick Weston, Weston Aviation’s chief executive, said: “This announcement is an exciting one for Weston Aviation as we expand our business outside of the UK for the first time.

“We chose Cork Airport as our first international base for a number of reasons; key was the number of global businesses based in the region as well as the growing local economy.

“We were also drawn to Cork Airport because of the size and structure of the airport as it is similar to that of our other airport partners, where we continuously invest to develop our business.”

Steve Gill, managing director at Doncaster Sheffield Airport added: “This is great news for Weston Aviation and delighted that they are continuing to grow as a company.

“They continue to do a fantastic job in Doncaster developing additional business, complementing the existing scheduled and charter passenger services.”
