Appointments: Oriium, AWB Charlesworth, Dow Schofield Watts, Drax

WETHERBY-BASED technology firm Oriium, which provides data management and infrastructure services, has appointed a sales and a financial director.

The appointments of Katy Hogg as Oriium’s financial director and Steve Maltby as director of sales, following the appointment of a chairman in June.

Prior to this, Ms Hogg worked for Wolseley and PwC. Mr Maltby joins the business from EMIS in Leeds, and has worked for government organisations and the NHS.

The company is now recruiting a marketing team to assist with its development plans.

For the last two years, Oriium has been ranked as one of Deloitte UK’s top 50 fast-growing technology businesses and is seeking a hat-trick at the 2015 awards later this year.

Established in 2007 by Chris Kiaie, Oriium currently employs a team of 35, initially launching with just two founding members of staff, and re-located to larger premises in Wetherby at the end of last year.

Ryan McCarry joined the business as chairman in June, buying a 15% stake to assist with its growth.

PROPERTY lawyer James Dunn has been promoted to partner level at AWB Charlesworth Solicitors.

He has specialised in commercial property law since qualifying as a solicitor in October 2006.

Mr Dunn will continue to be based at the AWB Charlesworth Skipton office but will also provide commercial property support to the Firm’s commercial and business law teams in Keighley and Bradford.

ADVISORY and equity finance firm Dow Schofield Watts has announced Jeff Gardner as director in its transaction services team, based in the firm’s Yorkshire and North East office.

Mr Gardner qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in 2002. After seven years, he moved to Morrisons as a strategy consultant in 2014.

Rob McCarthy, who established the region’s transaction services practice in 2014, said: “Jeff’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to the Yorkshire and North East region as we continue to build our financial due diligence team. ***POWER station owners Drax have appointed Will Gardiner as finance director.

He will succeed Tony Quinlanfrom mid-November, who resigned as a director of the Company on 31 May 2015.

Michael Scott, who has been interim finance director since the resignation, will continue in that role until then.

Mr Gardner has been chief financial officer of CSR plc, a global semiconductor business which was acquired by Qualcomm Inc last month.

He graduated from Harvard and John Hopkins Universities, and spent the early part of his career in corporate finance with Citibank and JP Morgan.
