Clugston wins £13m hat trick of contracts

SCUNTHORPE firm Clugston Construction, part of the Clugston Group, has secured three contract wins totalling £13m.

One of the contracts, for the University of Sunderland, will see Clugston deliver a refurbishment of the Sciences Complex, as well as a second contract to develop a Centre for Enterprise and Innovation.

Laboratories, research facilities, hospital training rooms and offices are part of the £3.8m Sciences Complex contract, whilst the £7m Centre for Enterprise and Innovation will involve the refurbishment of a grade II-listed building for a lab and office spaces for businesses within the advanced manufacturing and science sectors.

The third contract is for the redevelopment of the manufacturing facilities and offices of Marshall Advanced Composites in Kirkbymoorside, which designs and manufactures components for applications on air, land and sea.

The contract for Marshall Aerospace and Defence, the parent firm, has a pricetag of £2.2m.

Clugston and project designers AECOM are working in conjunction with the Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group project managers to divide the contract into four phases, so that staff are able to take over sections of the site as the work is completed.

Andy Mackintosh, Clugston Construction’s newly appointed regional business manager for the North East, said, “We are really pleased to be working on three projects from the North East office. As a local business, employing local people, we are excited to be working for such well-known organisations and keen to add value to the process.”
