Sheffield set for silver screen as Nicole Kidman film starts shooting

FILMING has started on John Cameron Mitchell’s movie, How to Talk to Girls at Parties starring Hollywood star Nicole Kidman and newcomer Elle Fanning, in Yorkshire.

Principal photography has started and filming in Sheffield and London. Agency Screen Yorkshire has supported the film through its Yorkshire Content Fund.

Director John Cameron Mitchell also worked on Hedwig and the Angry Itch and Shortbus. The film is based on a short story by Neil Gaiman, from his collection Fragile Things.

How to Talk to Girls at Parties is financed by Film4, Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Content Fund and Delish Films. HanWay Films handles international sales, with Studio Canal distributing in the UK.

The cast is led by Elle Fanning, star of Maleficent and Super 8 with Tony Award winning Alex Sharp from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman who reunites with John Cameron Mitchell who directed her Academy Award® nominated performance in Rabbit Hole in 2010.

Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson, Matt Lucas and Joanna Scanlan are also on the cast list.

The announcement comes a week after it was announced that Dalton Mills would be used as a set for the upcoming Bill Nighy film The Limehouse Golem, a gothic murder mystery.
