Record 4m visitors bounce their way to Yorkshire attraction

TOURIST attraction Xscape has pulled in a record 4m visitors in a year, 1m more than the Tower of London and double that of Westminster.

The attraction offers trampolining, indoor skiing, skate parks, indoor golf, a climbing wall and bowling, as well as an aerial assault course and an IMAX cinema.

Xscape Yorkshire, located near Castleford, opened in 2003 after a £56m investment. The site employs 1,000 people.

Now after its record year, it has cementing its place as a top 20 attraction in England.

The 4m visitor landmark for 2015 was achieved last week and officials at the attraction say visitor numbers could reach up to 4.2m by the end of the year.

Dan Wharton, marketing manager of Xscape Yorkshire, said: “Achieving 4 million visitors is a fantastic milestone for this centre and one we are very proud of.

“Our success lies in the uniqueness and variety of our offer that keeps people coming back for more and attracts visitors from far and wide.

“We’ve worked hard to deliver new exciting activities in the leisure market that give our customers great experiences they won’t find elsewhere.”

Deborah Hindley, chairwoman of Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions, added: “Xscape Yorkshire just gets better and better and is now a must see attraction for Yorkshire residents and visitors to the region.

“I think their success is partly due to their constant investment in new activities and to its appeal to young people, families and adventurers. It’s contributed massively to the local economy and really helps promote tourism in the region.”
