PwC’s Central Square offices get £5m fit-out

THE main contractor of PwC’s new Central Square Leeds HQ is starting on a £5m interior fit-out.

PwC is taking two floors of Marrico and Roydhouse Properties’ 11-storey, £100m development.

The 50,000 sq ft office space for PwC covers floors seven and eight, and will be home to PwC’s 800 staff in Leeds.

Designed by DLA Design and WSP Global, the fit-out will include movable glazed walls and audio visuals.

Wates has been on site delivering the base-build of the former Royal Mail site since June 2014.

Once complete, it will comprise 220,000 sq ft of flexible Grade A office space and 30,000 sq ft of retail and leisure provision.

Paul Dodsworth, business unit director for Wates Construction Yorkshire and North East, commented: “There has been a marked resurgence of confidence in the city, which has in-turn cultivated growth in the speculative office market.

“This has acted as a catalyst for increased investment in commercial development and we are delighted to be playing a central part in catering for heightened demand for office space in this fantastic city.”

Arif Ahmad, PwC’s senior partner in Leeds, said: “Central Square will be Leeds’ most iconic building, providing a first class working environment. We wanted the relocation process to be an opportunity for our people to have a say in how the new office should function and feel.

“We have had great fun creating a space that has the identity of the region and is somewhere people can collaborate and use technology to meet the demands of modern business working.

“It will also give us 15% more useable space as we continue to recruit and attract the best talent so we can best serve our clients, to help them achieve their objectives. More than anything it will be somewhere we will be proud to welcome our staff, clients and our community partners.”
