Mixed results for Yorkshire’s universities in 2017 rankings

THERE were mixed results for the region’s universities in the Complete University Guide’s 2017 rankings from The Times.

The University of Leeds rose three places to 16th in the top 20, whilst the University of York dropped two places to 19th place.

The University of Sheffield fell one place to 28th but was rated highly on the quality of research done there. The University of Bradford rose 10 places to become 53rd in the league.

The University of Hull fell five places to 68th. Huddersfield dropped from 74th to 81st, Leeds Trinity fell one place to 102nd, and York St John fell to 106th place from 99th.

Leeds Beckett stayed static at 114th.

The top three universities remained unchanged this year: the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and London School of Economics topped the UK’s higher education establishments.

Closer to home, Durham University dropped one place to 6th, and the University of Manchester rose three places to 25th in the league tables.
