Keepmoat to create jobs with new Leeds office

HOUSING and community regeneration specialist Keepmoat has launched a new office in Leeds to tackle what it says is a mounting demand from first time buyers in West Yorkshire.

The firm, which has headquarters in Doncaster and an office in Wath-upon-Dearne near Rotherham, has hailed a series of major wins and a rising sales rate with its decision to launch a new homes division in the region.

In preparation for the launch Keepmoat has been appointing staff from the Leeds area. It currently employs 30 staff in Leeds and this is expected to rise to 45 within the coming year.

Ian Hoad, operations director for Keepmoat in Yorkshire is tasked with heading up the new Yorkshire West Homes division which is aiming to build 500-600 homes a year in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Kirklees.

He said: “The day we opened the new office was the day we secured a landmark £142m project with Strata Homes to build around 1,000 new homes on brownfield land in Leeds. This further justified our belief that the demand for new homes is bigger than ever and it was the perfect start for our new team in Leeds.

“We want to build on the successful partnerships that are already in place with local authorities and our presence in West Yorkshire demonstrates our commitment to the region.

“Since we announced plans to open an office in Leeds, we’ve even had a number of suppliers bring their business here too – which is fantastic for commerce.”

“As well as the major brownfield deal in Leeds, Keepmoat’s Yorkshire West team is preparing plans for new home schemes in Wakefield and Bradford, as well as delivering 501 homes on land at the Seacroft Hospital site in Leeds.
