Fashion tips: It will be all white on the night…

ALWAYS a firm favorite but never practical, white is the hot colour to wear to this summer’s festivals and outdoor parties.

LA style was leading the way this month at Coachella, (aka the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which takes place in the Colorado Desert in California).

With white crochet and lace looks all over Coachella, it was quite the boho season. With denim shorts and jackets tapered with jewels, lace and patterns, it was a real throwback to the 70’s and 80′ proving denim is as strong as ever.

I was loving the colourful and striking maxi dresses and cute mini jumpsuits. Pleated hair and head accessories are all the range at an event like this, not to mention a new hot trend of make-up for your hair, yes makeup with leading salons like Westrow adding sparkle and colour to hair.

Our FB models were out in force at Coachella, Alex Pryce, Barclays and Rebecca Beaumont of Schofield Sweeney couldn’t wait to report back, so it’s festival fever on the FB catwalk later this month in a special Rihanna and Calvin Harris festival catwalk scene with lots of tiny denim shorts, pleated hair and of course white lace and crochet tops.

Of course, what works in the Californian sunshine might not be quite such a great idea tramping through the muddy fields and gardens of the UK, but fashion is fashion… and high street brands in Leeds like French Connection, Harvey Nichols, Jigsaw, Debenhams and Mango are going all out for white.

So, what to do? There are various ways to wear white for summer, as it’s a shade that spans quite a few trends, ensuring that there is a white option, whatever your particular style is may be a skinny jean with a white T-shirt or a simple white lace dress with an oversized jacket, you may love white ruffles and frills like Victoriana lace looks (Alexander McQueen, Burberry and the rest), which work well, whatever your style there is a white trend out there.

Obviously, whichever white trend you choose, you must take care to avoid the obvious spills of red wine or little dirty paws as keeping white pristine is a full-time job in itself, but so worth it, good luck!
