Thai restaurant takes on former Lloyds Bank site in Leeds

LONDON restaurant chain Busaba Eathai is launching in Leeds.

Busaba Eathai will be taking a lease at the former Lloyds Bank building on Park Row.

The 15 year lease on the 6,000 sq ft unit will make the Thai restaurant chain a Leeds staple.

It has 14 locations across the UK, having just opened up in Manchester in March as well as Liverpool ONE.

The Leeds location will be ready by early 2017, and it will be the first restaurant in Yorkshire for Busaba Eathai.

Led by chief executive Jason Meyers, it was originally founded by Alan Yau of Wagamama, Hakksan and Yauatcha fame in 1999.

The CBRE team in Leeds sold the property on behalf of CBRE Global Investors.

Mr Meyers of Busaba, said; “I am delighted to be opening this Flagship Busaba in my home city of Leeds, it’s wonderful to be in Yorkshire and working with CBRE on this exciting re-development of the former Lloyds Bank.”

James Fox, director of Retail at CBRE Leeds, said; “The former Lloyds unit on Park Row presented the ideal location for Busaba Eathai’s first restaurant in Yorkshire. Leeds has welcomed a large number of new restaurant operators since the opening of Trinity and it is fantastic to be introducing this award winning brand to Leeds.”
