Top 5 manliest cocktails – because it’s not all about the beer

MOVE over ladies, the men are taking over on the cocktail front.

Men now account for almost half of cocktail consumption across the UK with 45% of males favouring something a bit more complicated than a pint on a night out.

The Botanist’s cocktail guru, Nick Whitby, has revealed the cocktails favoured most by the men of Leeds at the restaurant and bar.

Thai Chilli Crush

Fresh red chilli mixed with lemon juice and green apple liqueur.

Pear and Cinnamon Sazerac

Described as a “love hate” drink, a Cognac and whiskey cocktail with a fruity twist

English Mojito

Traditional mojito made with Tanqueray gin. Apple juice and green apple liqueur add a tang.

Raspberry and Amaretto Sour

With raspberry puree and liqueur, as well as orange and cherry on top to garnish, this is basically one of your five a day.

Nick said: “We have noticed that more and more men are ordering cocktails for themselves compared to a year ago. We put this is partly down to the fact that males are more health conscious than ever before, and cocktails tend to contain fewer calories and are less filling in comparison to beer.

“We picked up on this demand for healthier drinks, and as a result, have recently launched a new cocktail menu which no longer uses traditional, sugar based, purees, and instead only uses fresh ingredients which creates a much healthier, cleaner cocktail.”
