Appointments: Partner appointment for employment team; Trio of hires for law firm; Water brand boosts team

AN employment lawyer with specialist expertise in the transport and healthcare sectors has joined law firm Ward Hadaway.

Edward Nuttman joins the Leeds office of Ward Hadaway as a partner after more than 12 years specialising in advising on a wide range of employment issues.

He has extensive knowledge of the transport industry, having advised household name bus, coach and haulage companies throughout the country, whilst in the healthcare sector he has advised several NHS Foundation Trusts, a Primary Care Trust, an Ambulance Trust and a domiciliary care services provider.

As well as providing legal advice to clients, Mr Nuttman has also prepared and delivered bespoke employment law training nationally.

He regularly advises on all aspects of employment and industrial relations work, as well as high value breach of contract and restrictive covenant claims.

His experience includes preventing several calls for industrial action by trade unions, advising a multi-channel retailer on a national restructure affecting five sites, and successfully defending an employment tribunal discrimination claim valued at more than £2m.

LAW firm Cartwright King has further bolstered its presence across Yorkshire with a raft of hires.

The firm, which has offices in Sheffield and Leeds, has appointed three solicitors across core areas of criminal defence and family law.

Cartwright King Matthew HagueCartwright King’s Sheffield office welcomes two criminal defence solicitors, Matthew Hague and Zawar Shah.

Having extensive experience in Crown Court litigation, duty solicitor Mr Hague has handled numerous high profile cases. His practice has also encompassed quasi criminal work such as defending applications made by the Police and Local Authorities to the County Court for ‘gang injunctions’ against alleged gang members – also known as ‘gangbos’ – and Hague was one of the first solicitors in Sheffield to deal with these cases.

Originally called to the bar, Mr Shah has 15 years’ experience as a criminal defence solicitor, working on cases from the police station to the Court of Appeal.

A duty solicitor holding higher rights in criminal proceedings, Shah is also an elected committee member of the Society of Asian Lawyers, a committee member of the Ethnic Minorities Lawyers Division at The Law Society (London), a registered lawyer with the Football Association and liaises with the Solicitors Regulation Authority on diversity issues.

Lindsey Cross Cartwright KingThe firm has also appointed family law solicitor Lindsey Cross, who joins the Leeds office with 12 years’ experience of divorce, matrimonial finance cases, cohabitation disputes and disputes regarding children. Cross also has extensive experience in dealing with domestic violence issues and protective injunctions as well as pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.

Harrogate Water BrandsHARROGATE Water Brands, the company behind Harrogate Spring and Thirsty Planet, has added to its sales and marketing team with three appointments.

Greg Hatton has been appointed export and new business development manager to drive sales in new overseas markets. He was previously national account controller within route to market for Remy Cointreau and also brings industry knowledge from 11 years with drinks giant Diageo, where he was business sector controller within route to market.
 
Adam Poppy has been appointed regional account executive based in London. He has a wealth of practical experience from eight years in hotel management and will be working as brand champion to expand sales of Harrogate Spring within the hotel and restaurant sectors.
 
Elatia Sharkey has joined the Harrogate head office team as customer service manager after three years in client management for Capita, the international business process outsourcing specialist. Before this she spent 21 years with Lloyds Bank, working in client relationship management.
