Care provider clocks in to former Terry’s chocolate factory

A CARE provider has taken space at one of two suites in the former Time Office of Terry’s chocolate factory south of York City Centre.

The Springfield Healthcare Group has signed up for 1,470 sq ft at the recently refurbished Stanley Harrison House development, which S Harrison has developed and owns.

There is now just one suite still available.

Graeme Lee, group CEO from Springfield, says: “We are developing the Terry’s Chocolate Works HQ building, which is adjacent to Stanley Harrison House, into a unique care village for older people with dementia. It therefore made complete sense for us to locate our York sales team in this iconic office building next door.
“Our office has a unique interior and is partitioned using wood oak panelling that was a prominent feature in the old chocolate works.  This same wood has also been used to create a stunning feature reception desk.

“S Harrison’s can-do approach, attention to detail and flexibility has helped us to create a very special environment in which to work. The office is modern, sustainable and energy efficient, yet it has maintained lots of the factory’s original character.”

He added: “It’s a really exciting time for this part of York, which is undergoing extensive regeneration, with the whole area being carefully modernised to ensure the history of the place is respected. We are delighted to be a part of that change, and to be located in an office that has undergone such a stunning and ground-breaking transformation.”

Located to the West side of Bishopthorpe Road, the remaining 1,290 sq ft office suite is situated on the ground floor of the building.

Phil Hill from S Harrison, which is also based in the building, says: “This restoration has been a labour of love and we have ensured superb specification levels throughout. It was important to us to remain faithful to the original design of this Grade II listed building whilst also delivering a host of energy saving elements to the build.

“We therefore constructed a new circulation core at the rear of the building and a new lightweight structure on the second floor, all from sustainable materials, to house an array of green technology, including air source heat pumps, photovoltaic panel technology and solar thermal panels. This makes it a really energy efficient and innovative building to work in.

“Internally we have delivered an exceptional specification, using high quality materials, Villeroy & Boch bathrooms and showers, as well as a number of commissioned art works and a fully restored antique clocking in and out system reflecting the building’s former use as the Time Office.”

He added: “The building already accommodates two of the region’s leading privately owned businesses LHL Group and S Harrison Developments, and now Springfield has leased a suite, there is only one office available. The suite will no doubt appeal to any business that is looking for a stand-out space with parking that also benefits from easy access to the city and beyond.”
